Appliance Efficiency Standards Continue to Improve

New air conditioner efficiency standards issued by the Department of Energy (DOE) are predicted to save an owner $4000 to $10,000 over the life of each AC unit. The new standards begin phasing in in 2018.
Thanks to a series of improvements to appliance efficiency standards, clothes washers, dishwashers, and air conditioners use about half the electricity they did in 1990.
